Anyone who lives in snowy areas knows how dangerous a great deal of snow fall can be. This year has been particularly a bad winter season for the North-East. As quick as you can clear the snow, more snow piles on top. The wonders of the internet and social media actually helped to to rescue these horses when their barn roof fell in. ~ HfH


snow on barn roofSTOUGHTON, Mass. (WHDH) – Dozens of horses were rescued from a Stoughton barn Sunday afternoon after heavy snow made its roof collapse.

The owners of the barn at Dry Water Farm said they went out Saturday evening and cleaned the barn’s roof off, but after more snow fell the following morning, it became weighed down again. At around 1 p.m., the roof collapsed.

The barn owners said they went on social media to ask for help in rescuing the 33 horses and got more than 9,000 responses.

People brought trailers to the scene to help rescue the terrified horses, who had to remain inside the damaged barn because of the cold temperatures.

    Fantastic how everyone rallied — each with a little bit, one trailer, room for 1-2 horses, one drop here, another drop there — together they made an ocean of difference for these horses …. what great people … it makes me proud to be part of the human race — THANK YOU.
