Save the Date! Habitat for Horses Adoption Appreciation Day!

gue-stoutamire-picHabitat for Horses has now been rescuing horses for over 15 years! Hard to believe that Habitat’s founder, Jerry Finch, rescued “Pete” that long ago. Pete is still running the place along with Jerry, Executive Director Rebecca Williams, the trusty staff, the volunteers, and now a Board of 15! We currently have four locations in four counties. Our original location in Hitchcock is where we intake horses and have our hospital and barn for rehabilitation, our Streetman location is for senior horses to live out their days, and now Manvel and Cleveland, is where we do therapy and assess horses for adoption.

As a fellow adopter of “My Mia” from 2012 and Mikey” from 2014, I know the pleasure these horses give us. Habitat for Horses couldn’t provide for all the rescues that come through our gates starving, sick, and abandoned if it weren’t for all you do! We want to show you our appreciation and also learn how to improve on adoptions.

The ASPCA Help a Horse Day is celebrated nationally by equine rescues across the country. Each of you has Helped a Horse in need by giving them a loving, forever home. Habitat for Horses is joining in on the celebration with our First Annual Adoption Appreciation Day, April 25th, 2015. Please bring your family, horse stories, photos, and ideas to our Manvel location at 8580 Bissell Rd, Manvel, TX 77578. We wish we could say bring your horses, but that is another day down the road hopefully with organized trail rides.

We hope you and your family members can join us for a picnic and social gathering at our Manvel Ranch, Saturday, 1:00 P.M., April 25th, 2015. Please RSVP by e-mail to me by March 31st at Donnacameron1@att.net.

Hope all is well with you and your trusty steed or donkey! We look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks for everything!

Donna

I first learnt about Habitat in March 2003; it’s been twelve years since that already. It is incredible how time passes by. Keep up the good work guys!

12 years! Dang it, Daniel. Ib some ways it seems like a lifetime, for all we have done together. It other ways, it seems like yesterday. You’ve been far more than a good friend, and one day – soon perhaps – we will meet on the Senate stairs and scream in joy. Love ya’ man. Seriously.

Thank you Jerry. Habitat has been always way more than a horse rescue for me. You guys taught me more about life, about the things that really matter, than any school, book, course or vital experience I ever had. The work you and all Habitat’s staff, volunteers and supporters do extends way beyond equines; it touches human lives. The world would be a poorer place without the Habitat.
