Bipartisan bill introduced in Congress to end slaughter of American equines
Call your Representatives and tell them to cosponsor the SAFE Act, H.R. 875.

The last horse slaughter plants in the United States closed years ago, and Congress has consistently voted to prohibit funding for horse slaughter inspections within U.S borders. Unfortunately, this does not prevent the inhumane transport of American equines to other countries. Each year, tens of thousands of our horses and burros are transported under terrible conditions to Canada and Mexico, where they meet a cruel end because there is no federal law stopping such transport across our borders.
The Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act, introduced today by Reps. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., and Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., would change all that. Their measure proposes to end the transport of American horses, burros and other equines abroad to be slaughtered for human consumption, and it would also ensure that horse slaughter plants on U.S. soil remain shuttered.

Solutions to disposing of 1200 pound horses? 800 to 1000 pounds of good nutritional meat? People are starving, dog s and zoo animals are fed grains and chicken feathers bones etc and you people think this is good to ban the slaughter of livestock? Get real.

We are supposed to be a cilivized country yet we comdem other countries for eating dogs. Every politician should be made to witness horse slaughter then see how they vote. Too many people are making too much money on killing our wild and tame horses it has to stop! My organization, Safe Haven Equine Warriors outbids killbuyers at auction. The horses that are being sent to slaughter are young nice horses, kids ponies, lesson horses, racehorses, Amish work horses, and our magnificent wild horses among others.
Not only are we putting toxic meat in the world food chain,, but we are committing horrendous acts of cruelty to the species that has served this country since the beginning. Americans DO NOT support our horses being slaughtered! They are not bred for that and should not die for that. There are many viable options for horses needing new homes. Slaughter is not one 9f them . It is not euthanasia!
It is on your shoulders to pass the S.A.F.E act because it is the right thing to do for horses and humans!

Horses don’t deserve the treatment they receive before the enter the kill pen to the ride to the slaughter house. Horses don’t deserve to loose there freedom because of the BLM. Horses have served us in many heroic times, in pleasure, on events etc. We need them to not suffer

Please stop sending your horses to Canada to slaughter!! We are trying to ban it here but as long as u keep sending them here u are keeping the supply going !! Also we here need to stop Americans from buying and operating the slaughter plants/ feedlots and their own airline to send them overseas!!! You may have no slaughter plants there in the USA but that did not solve anything there u just made it worse for the horses having to travel days without food water and in crowded trucks to Canada to the AMERICAN owned slaughterhouses / feedlots!!!!!!!!
