Think of Habitat for Horses for the Holidays

Christmas horse

There is actually a number of ways you can fill your stockings (and then some) this holiday season while helping Habitat for Horses expand our abilities as an Equine Rescue and our Educational Programs. No need to stand in long lines or get into fights over a sweater. A win win for everyone.
bells-left1. The Horse at Home Book. A 100 pages of wonderful prose and beautiful photographs of the rescued horses at the HfH Ranch.

Photographs by Skeeter Hagler and Kathy Oliver. Cost $150 – all proceeds will go to the Greener Pastures Land Fund for Habitat for Horses.

bells-left2. Give a Horse a Home for Christmas. From November 1st, 2013 through December 31, 2013 you can bring a horse (or a donkey!) home to foster them for Christmas…if you wish to adopt them, your price will only be the application fee of $35. You will need to pass a background check and property inspection as well as sign a foster agreement. You will need to be able to come out to the ranch in SE Texas to visit the horses.

By January 5th you will need to fill out an adoption application, if you wish to keep the horse. Not all horses on our website are available for this special, as some of them are currently being used in special programs – Only the horses listed on our official Give a Horse A Home for Christmas page are available.

Here are pictures of 4 of the horses (and donkeys) available – click here to view more information and see all of the horses available.

“Until They Are Safe” Bracelets are a very popular item. Each stainless steel bracelet is engraved with the words: “Until They Are Safe”, beneath that quote is a description of a horse that was needlessly slaughtered. Your purchase goes towards making that goal come true.$15 each includes shipping.

Some items may not be listed on the online store (t-shirts are such a hot commodity that we do not have them on there!) – so please call us to see what else is available – 866 434 5737

bells-left4. Donate.
You can make a donation to honor a loved one or out of the goodness of your heart. Your donations go towards the care and rehabilitation of horses rescued from abuse or death. As well as towards educational programs that benefit both the horses and the community as a whole. Learn more about donations by clicking here.

bells-left5. Volunteer
Another wonderful gift is the gift of volunteering. The moments spent helping a rescued horse, are moments that will last a lifetime in your memories. We need several different types of volunteers – from ranch work to fund raising and more. Click here to find out more and fill out the volunteer form.

Your Holiday Gift to the Horse Industry
All of us at United Horsemen hope you enjoyed a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Today, the day after Thanksgiving, is commonly known as the official start of the shopping and gift-giving season, as Christmas fast approaches.

As you prepare for this busy and joyous time of year, we hope you will include support for the horse industry in your holiday plans.

United Horsemen, a 501c3 non-profit group, is at the forefront of the battle to safeguard horses, horse owners and industry professionals against radical animal-rights groups. These groups push laws that inflict needless suffering upon horses. They also seek to eliminate the horse industry and stamp out horse ownership by trying to dictate how we use, manage and care for our animals.

The animal-rights extremists use dishonest, emotional tactics to gain support from an unsuspecting public. United Horsemen educates people by telling the truth. We expose the animal-rights agenda and all its treachery.

At United Horsemen, we know this effort does not slow down or take a break for the holidays. That is why we are asking you to join us in protecting the welfare of horses and preserving our freedoms as horse owners.

A number of you have already donated, and if you are among those donors, thank you for your support! If you have not yet done so, please consider a gift to United Horsemen this holiday season. It will help horses and the hard-working people who own, love and make a living with them.

We wish you all the best for the holidays!

    United Horsemen
