contest-winner1

As you know, all the pictures were fantastic in the final 12. So many of you wrote to say you had a hard time deciding which one to choose. The votes have now been tallied and the public has spoken:

The winner of the Habitat for Horses “They Rescued Me” photo contest is:

Liza Butzirus of West Palm Beach, Florida!
Equine Rescue: Pure Thoughts Horse Rescue

winner

Liza’s picture of her and “Light The Night” struck a chord with many people and they wanted to know more.. Liza told us:

When Light The Night arrived at the rescue she was instantly special to me. We bonded immediately. She had a sad past and I wanted the rest of her days to be peaceful and worry-free,
and now they are.

Liza adopted Light The Night from Pure Thoughts Horse Rescue in Florida where she has volunteered to aid them with their mission of “saving the lives of horses, yearlings and foals that were bound for slaughter, victims of starvation, neglect, abandonment and abuse”.

Habitat for Horses will contact the Purina dealer in her area for delivery of the Grand Prize, 1000 pounds of Purina Feed.
The purpose of this contest is to promote the hard work done by 501c3 non-profit equine rescues across the nation.

Habitat for Horses is a 501.c.3 nonprofit equine protection organization supported solely by donations. We have around 200 donkeys and horses under our care, plus one ornery, old mule. Most of them are here because law enforcement removed them from their previous owner. Our ability to rehabilitate and rehome them comes from the financial support of people like you. Please support us by making a donation for the horses we all serve. Click HERE to donate
