No American Horse is safe for Human Consumption. The report just mentions Bute, which can cause anemia (aplastic) in children. And I believe that I read a report that Bute had been found in horsemeat in England.
And everyone in the US that deals with horses (including the kill buyers) know that there is bute in the horses that they deliver for slaughter; they falsify the meager documentation that is required which is not even matched to the horse. And what about all the other drugs? Wormers? Antibiotics? Fly Repellent given in feed? Frog JUICE? Plus every other inoculation for diseases including rabies? When these reports say that horse meat is safe, they are referring to horses that are “farmed” for meat. Not people’s pets and sport partners!
I never, ever buy any dog treats from China. And if I had a cat, I wouldn’t buy it for them either.
Simply turn over the package and check to see “country of origin.”
I also never buy any treats from Wal Mart.
Notice that they state that no traces of bute have been found. Are you kidding me? Not only was bute found, it seems to have gotten into the human food chain.
They need to get their facts straight at least.
Yes Bute was found BUT any reports I have read never states whether meat was tested for any other chemicals from wormers, vaccinations, etc. Also I want to know if meat was tested for equine diseases. You know diseased horses have been slaughtered…
