amigoMost states have one or two nonprofit equine rescues with the ability to work with the legal system in helping abused or neglected horses. If you follow these links, you should be able to find one in your area.

A word of caution - The listing of these links is not an endorsement. Some equine rescues are large organizations with a system of checks that keep everyone honest. Others may be small one or two person operations with absolutely no system of checks. We are constantly receiving complaints about so called “rescues” that are very dishonest in their treatment of horses and donations. There are no national oversight organizations that can verify the honesty of a nonprofit equine rescue.
