Sundance
Breed: Arabian DOB: 1991 Skill: Program horse.
Sundance was a once starved horse from a 7-horse seizure in Galveston. His unique personality and sensitivity to humans became apparent after watching his interaction with small children during their visits to the ranch. He's now the main attraction during our visits to local schools to talk with children about animal abuse and human violence. During these visits we've had many instances where children, at first very scared of Sundance, start hugging him and start talking about the violence in their own family environment. These children are then passed over to school counselors, who delve deeper into the abuse the children are experiencing.
The children are often amazed at watching Sundance gallop across the football field and then, moments later, softly press his nose against the cheek of a 6-year old child. He embodies the majesty and power of a dynamic horse and, at the same time, the sensitivity and warmth of their love.
