I Will Remember You "Remember the good times that we had Let them slip away from us when things got bad Clearly I first saw you smiling in the sun Wanna feel your warmth upon me I want to be the one"
--Sarah McLachlan
The Love Story Somewhere not too far away, in a world we cannot see or hear, two lovers are together again. He waited for her, knowing she would come when she was ready. At long last, after so many months of waiting, Kelly trotted to Willies side, their love fulfilled, their souls complete once again.
Love is forever in the world of horses. We saw that tonight as Kelly slipped from our world. She knew who was waiting, she heard his call. Kelly wanted to go. With the help of Rebecca and Dr. Jenkins, we let her slip away from our world to be with Willie, her own true love.
There will be no sadness in her passing. Instead, there is joy. Nothing I could have said or done would have ever removed the pain of Willies loss in Kellys heart. For months Ive watched her standing by herself. Ive seen her try to bond with other horses, failing time after time. Mac and Maggie were her only living friends, but her true friend, Willie, had gone from her life.
When Maggie passed away, Kelly lost what little spirit she had left. Willies distant calling gave her a choice continue living or slip away to his world.
The love some horses have for one another goes far beyond our ability to understand. Human love is wrapped up in complicated twist and turns, while the love horses have for one another is pure, clean and deep. This love had no ending. They are now together, eternally, and that is as it should be.
Ive only seen it a few times Sam and Biddy, Hope and Faith, Harvey and Nichol, and Willie and Kelly. I was honored to have them with us, and extremely thankful for the lessons I learned from them.
This isnt the end of a love story. Its only the beginning. Willie and Kelly forever Jerry

"Love does not clutch, it stokes gently. Love is persistant, but never otrusive. Love forms a partnership, never a mastership. Love is softness and giving and always releasing.
Sometimes Love is fire and sometimes it is ice. Sometimes Love comes late in life, sometimes early. Sometimes Love is from here to there, sometimes only for the moment. Love offers the open hand, the soft shoulder, a gentle rest . Love is being there through tears and laughter. Love comes at the end of the trail for some and offers the final light. Love means never having to lay down alone for the last time. Love is Rebecca and Willie - somewhere in eternity together."

"I had a brief time with you & Willie, but I could tell you had a special bond... You truly are a wonderful loving person Rebecca and I'm so sorry you are having to endure this pain. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Time will help heal all. Wille is now with his creator and is no longer suffering or in pain. You did the right thing.. Please don't second guess yourself...."

"You were far more noble and brave with the path you chose for Willie at the end. You put what was best for him above your own wishes and desires and that is about the purest expression of love you can hope to obtain."

"Thank you for letting us be a small part of his life even though most of us never met him. Bless you for trying as hard as you did - he is now with many of the others we've lost - Scooby and Rose and others. They're all enjoying their time together over the bridge right now - no troubles, no pain, no abuse. Just the good memories of those who did love them and treated them with the respect they deserved."
Frances (Aunt FAT)
"I know it doesn't help right now, but I hope in the future it comforts you to know that he is always with you and that you made a world of difference in his life. I bet you were the first time he ever had a person of his own, and I think that's important."
Jennifer (vanbasti)
"He was such a guy and a pleasure to know. Please except my prayers and thoughts for you and Kelly. "

"Of all the dreams, the hopes and passions, none measured as high as those directed towards Willie. All of us know of great horses, but for us who knew him, he was the greatest horse weve ever known. Those who dont believe that horses can talk heard his voice. Those who believe heard him often and joined him in conversations of the mind. He spoke of adventures and abuse, of understanding and acceptance, but most of all he spoke of love.
Willie didnt just know love; he participated in it. He gave everything to those horses and humans who walked beside him. He was gently beyond belief, caring, passionate, forgiving and understanding. Those traits made him exceptional, and those who knew him were drawn to his unique personality.
In his last days, he found the human that loved him. That final connection made his life complete. His last hours were spent in her arms, his last breathe held her scent as she released him to the river of horses. No greater love can be found that that given with an open hand. Today, Rebecca opened her hand and released him into the hands of God."
