List of Shame

horse slaughter

Straight from the mouth of those charming folks at “United Horsemen” who seek to inspire all horse owners to send their horses to slaughter for a “peaceful death,” comes this list. Please know that each of these organizations have signed a statement saying they want and support horse slaughter.

horse slaughterWhich one, if any, has been getting your support? Every dollar you send to them only adds to their strength.

Last tiime I saw this list, I called the organizations in California and found that two did NOT endorse their name on this list. One was California Farm Bureau and Californoia Thorobred Association. I will call them and tell them United Horsemen is using their name again. The Californoa Horse Council is run by a guy down in Palm Springs who is also a founding member of United Horsemen. Feel free to call the organizations in YOUR state and disciuss with them the fat they arstated to be in a business that 80% Americans oppose. Their names are being publicized.

  • OMG !!!! If you see a name of some org. in your State Please write to them , and tell them exactly what you think of them , and how you will no longer support any of their activities, and how you are going to advise everyone in your State that This organization supports HORSE SLAUGHTER…………. and also tell them that 80 percent of American citizens do not NOT want Horse Slaughter in any form , there is NO HUMANE HORSE SLAUGHTER !!!!! ANYONE SURPRISED TO SEE AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ON THE LIST???????? This List is a list of HORSE SLAUGHTERS….. Remember to NEVER do any Business with any of them !!!!!!!

None of these will be getting my money. Except the TEXAS VET ASSOC, I guess. Hard to avoid them I guess. How disappointing.

    OMG! what a long list!!

We dropped our insurance with Farm Bureau many years ago. Others who have it may want to do so also.
Also don’t eat beef. The Cattlemen’s Assoc. have cook-outs at many events and act like good guys. Poor cattle. Better yet don’t eat any meat. All animals suffer.
    Thanks for posting this, Jerry.

Well I’m off cow. So there’s that. And I was finally able to drop Nationwide.

One thing about Nationwide “is is on your side” in order to be legible for their discount you have to join Farm Bureau.

It truly sucked, but after I moved things changed and I can proudly say I no longer subsidize Farm Bureau! QUADRUPLE HOOFRAYS!!!!!!!

Oh Thank god I don’t support any of those org’s. but what is interesting is Steve was told yesterday by his car insurance that he has to pay into Nevada Farm Bureau (he has to be a member) to have car insurance I hope they are not for Slaughter or anything else against horses. Im not using that insurance so i have never heard of that before. He has country financial insurance i think. but OMG that list is way to long!!!!

Calif. Thoroughbred Breeders was contacted by one of the horses advocates. They are NOT pro-slaughter. Their letterhead was forged quite some time ago. They were quite surprised to see themselves on this list. Are there more folks who have no idea that they are being lied about?

    April 17, 2014
    • Lauren

Do they say they are anti-slaughter? They may be neutral which is not good either. Some organizations attempt to say they are surprised to see themselves on a list like this.

oh my god we really don’t stand a chance in hell do we ??? that just blows my mind never in my wildest dreams would i have thought that sooo many organizations would be the slaughter of these beautiful creatures . is just mostly the assc.’s but still just looking at that list is a little overwhelming .but disabled as i am i will take up weapons for the horses.

    April 17, 2014
    • Janet Schultz

Cindy – this is a made up list by United Horsemen. I just got an email from Biotechnology Industries (listed by Duqette) and they said “this does not involve biotechnology and we do not support it.”. They picked a bunch of names out of a hat and put them on the list, even companies in CA where horse slaughter is illegal. Don’t be discouraged. We are the majority – those who hate horse slaughter. Think of the horse slaughterers as house burglars. There are laws against it, but somehow they still do it. The fight to protect horses is lifetime.

American Horse Council states they are “Neutral,” just like my own state of New York. Sounds like pro-slaughter to me. This disgusts and angers me, especially when they won’t explain why.

    April 17, 2014
    • Robynne Catheron

There are only two answers to why the American Horse Council and any state horse council would be pro-slaughter: either they don’t know about the nightmare that each and every single horse suffers throughout the entire slaughter pipeline, or they don’t care.
I sort of understand the viewpoint of the cattle and pork ranchers (even though it’s wrong). To them, horses are simply livestock and slaughtering them is no different than a cow or a pig.
The breed associations are greed-driven, and, simply put, are willing to slaughter anything that isn’t the exact, precise, and perfectly perfect specimen.
But our horse councils? That makes me sick.

…yeah, most all breeder org’s…or breeders…or those that PROFIT from breeding MORE horses…or those that rein, train and ruin horses and no where to dump the used ones once they are used up….yeah….cuts the ole bottom line to have culls and broken ones that no one wants and have no place to dump them! yeah….cuts back the breeding program a bit too. gee….too frikkin bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they all need to get a real job and stop living off animals!
i support NONE of these. i did belong to the AQHA….but stopped my membership this yr and won’t be back until they change their policies and way of thinking! my main breed org isn’t on here, thank God they have some sense.

  • Debbie

Well, I have been in touch with the Arabian Ass. wrote and tried to explain the others options other than slaughter and HOW on earth could they support Horse slaughter… Response back was they are NEUTRAL, the reason they are neutral so they say is because some of their members are for it and not for it.. So then I wrote back again and reamed them in a respectful way and also told them I will not be Registering my horse with an Org. that does nothing to help our Horse Industry… Then IF you look at WHO is on the board of this Ass. it gives you the answer, AQHA, racing industry, on the Arabian Horse Board??? WHY would the Arabian Horse have AQHA, & racing affiliates on THEIR BOARD??? So then I asked on their facebook why do they not take a poll of their members of WHO is pro-slaughter & who is anti-slaughter>>> Reasonable question>>>> Then I went on their site to ask again this same question because I got NO ANSWER, now I cannot comment on their site!!!! NICE RIGHT!! IF EVERYONE stops giving these people money,, it WOULD change their views no question,,, money is as we know, the only thing they care about… Also asked AQHA on their facebook page to take a poll, NO ANSWER!!!

    • Barbara Warner

Thanks for trying, Debbie. The AVMA did not ask their members either.

Typical organizations Debbie, sitting on a fence and looking which way should we go. I am sooooo disappointed in Horse Organizations who don’t take a stand. They are the cause of the problem, and it’s so easy to turn their head and let their ‘cull’ and unwanted go down the road to Mexico and Canada. Be responsible breeders and horses should not be slaughtered! I just hate it. I quit giving them money years ago. I don’t even really go to shows or watch them either. And, it’s typical for them to ignore your questions also….I’ve been there with smoking in barns when we showed (Minnesota). It was more important for the bigger barns to be able to smoke because they bring in more money than my one or two little horses that I had there…..lame answer to my question. Of course, I got my way as it was a law…..but it took the Arabian Association almost 5 yrs! to enforce it. It’s a shame that America as come to this with the wild horse and unwanted horses being slaughtered so it’s easier for ‘them’…..Keep up the fight!

    April 17, 2014
  • WOW< Good Job !!!! Expose lies !!!! Ill be working on Ohio tomorrow…………………

    April 17, 2014
  • Just the word SLAUGHTER is, well look that up in your ethics book!

    April 17, 2014
  • Robynne Catheron

I am printing this list and taking lots of copies to hand out on my 1200-mile anti-slaughter RIDE FOR THEIR LIVES. People need to know where these organizations stand.
I think it’s shameful that none of them has the integrity or cahones to answer our questions. What cowards!

    April 18, 2014
  • Jeannette Mott

so if the name is listed above they support slaughter?

    April 18, 2014
  • Susan Crane-Sundell

The American Quarter Horse Association has always come down on the side of pro-slaughter. The tracks where Quarter Horses race have no anti-slaughter policies. At Quarter Horse tracks who also secondarily sponsor Thoroughbred racing, such as Los Alamitos, the rules that apply to Quarter horses take precedent over the rules for Thoroughbreds. In New York state and California it is illegal to sell a Thoroughbred off of the track to a kill buyer, but if you race the horse at a Quarter Horse track for its last race, you can immediately van it off the track and dump it at slaughter auction and avoid all sanctions. We have a list of trainers who do this regularly. Help to get rules like this changed. Please lobby the AQHA to ask them to tighten their medication policies for AQHA racing and ask them tp please institute an anti-slaughter policy for their racehorses and tracks like many of the TB tracks have. It’s not a failsafe, but it’s a starting point to quelling race horse slaughter.

The AVMA is trying to defeat the safe act. I’m a member so I know this to bd true. However many members do not agree with their decision…

    April 19, 2014
    • Barbara Warner

Members don’t get to make decisions, only the AVMA directors. That needs to change.

      April 19, 2014
    • Robynne Catheron

Linda, that must be so frustrating for the members who support the S.A.F.E. Act. What can you do to make your voices heard within the AVMA, or do they just ignore their members’ wishes? II’ve heard of organizations that are run like dictatorships, where it’s the board of directors’ way or no way. But it’s unfathomable to know there are veterinarians out there who would rather torture a horse slowly and brutally rather than end its life quickly and as painlessly as possible. Isn’t that the complete opposite of their oath?

      April 19, 2014
  • Cheryl Bowe

The AVMA should be ashamed. Ask your veterinarian to speak up to the AVMA against horse slaughter. If your veterinarian approves of horse slaughter replace him.
Money talks. Veterinarians know horse slaughter is inhumane.

    April 19, 2014
  • We here all have Vets make a phone call ask them if they are Pro Slaughter if they are REPLACE them , Vets of all people should know that Horse Slaughter is inhumane , if they choose that they are Pro Horse slaughter , they are Frauds…………………

    April 19, 2014
  • Carla

Idiot did not check to make sure everyone on this list supported him. I called my wyoming legislatior and govs office about this.

    April 20, 2014
  • Liars , how dare they put people and organ, without asking !!!@! If this is the case ??? These people should SUE there damn pants off !!!!!!

    April 20, 2014
  • Mrs elizabeth ferrari

Any one who supports this torture is themselves just down right evil. With all of the creatures that are being killed one would think that man would see this torture and try and stop it. Man is one of the biggest killers on this earth. They do not have any form of morals. So as long as people like this are on this earth these forms of torture and killing will continue!

    April 30, 2014
  • Thank You JFinch for posting this List of Shame !!!!!!it has proven to be most Valuable, already we are finding these People are lairs, how many people and organ. have already said they didnt sign this ………..United Horsemen have shown their true lieing Colors here……………I am hoping everyone of these people who did not sign , Sue their pants right off…………….
