Jane Velez-Mitchell takes on saving America’s wild horse population

CNN Headline News Jane Velez-Mitchell took on Sally Jewel and the BLM on her show last night, November 25th, 2013. Its great to see a larger news outlet discussing the issue – especially the “land grab” by the US government that benefits the cattle and energy – particularly fracking – corporations at the expense of the wild horse and burros that have the right to protection, life and liberty. However some of the opinions and options presented in this piece on what is best for our nation’s wild horses should be seriously debated before we jump to any conclusions on how to move forward. ~ HfH Webmistress

Hi Jane, Thank you for taking on this topic and tragic situation. We need to be the voice for these horses and the more coverage the better. Alberta, Canada is also trying to save our wild horses. The time for change is now.
Your friend North of the border!

Jane, thank you for taking on this important cause, what is wrong with our government, they are horrible with preserving our wildlife like our beautiful horses and majestic wolves and misusing our lands all for the benefit of cattle ranchers, foreign palates based on greed and ignorance, and fracking supported by our backless politicians and corporate abuses! We shall fight to the end!

Just go to “horse slaughter”on your computer and you will find that BLM is allowing them to be sold to kill buyers to send to Canada and Mexico for slaughter for human consumption in other countries and animal feed. I am shocked that our government is allowing this against the will of the PEOPLE. Our country is not the only one, Australia just culled 7,000 horses by shooting them from helicopters.

By operation of ESA laws wild horse/burro herds must be restored to herd area migratory ranges Until the courts rule on that issue, based on their wildlife distinct population special status species, our heritage herds will be decimated to extinction.

Thank you Jane we love you…
Something is really dirty here the American tax payers, pays for the land the wild ones roam we pay the wage of the BLM employees as well as the Fish and Wildlife employees and Sally Jewell. We pay for the horses in general but we have no say. We are told they are damaging the land or starving and dying of thirst we all know cattle does the damage to the range not the horses and every round up I have seen the horses look fine I would even say they are beautiful.
We hear how the USDA is pushing the processing plants to set up for slaughtering horses. We see the Gov has over 50,000.00 of our wild ones in holding pens that we the tax payers are paying to keep there. I am sure you are getting the connection.
We see how the BLM and Fish and Wildlife will let the kill buyer like good old Stan Palmer take all the wild ones he wants while we the tax payer pays $1000.00 to Palmer for each horse. And he never seems to have a record of where the horses go after leaving his rat hole establishment.
We have a group of great originations whom are very much able and willing to take all the wild ones that are in the holding pens and relief the American tax payer of this burdened. Businesswoman and philanthropist Madeleine Pickens has more than enough land and money, so why is our Gov declining to allow the people who love these wild ones the chance to save them, our gov don’t want them or do they?. I believe the have a plan a very ugly plan.

Yes, Arlene If Only This Was True I Myself Am Consumed With The Treatment Of The Wild Ones. I Can Not Believe What Our Fellow Mankind Is Doing to Them. I Have Always Been A Firm Believer There Is A Special Place In Hell For People Who Abuse Children And Animals. If So They Will Need To Put An Addition On That Place In Hell There Are So Many Involved.

    • Dear Penny, all of us here would love that l am sure of it, I have seen and witnessed the Cruelest of things being done to the Mustangs and Burros, what needs to happen is getting RID of the Scourge The BLM , they are not a Mustang management Agency , lets get one , one who believes the Mustangs and Burros are what they ARE NEEDED and Belong to the Land and the Range , they are essential for all living things , they are the Balance of all Nature !!!!!
