Temperament:
Very smart, curious and
friendly.
Physical problems /
health issues:
None known.
Interaction with horses:
Gets along fine with
others. Runs and plays
with the 'big' horses,
and they love him. Very
brave and quite the
leader. He is out with
the Hunt Co. horses and
they play furiously all
day. They are all on a
25 acre pasture and have
a 20,000 sq. ft. arena
to come into for
shelter. There are
stalls in the arena and
he knows which one is
his. They all get fed
separately and stay in
until Button has
finished her breakfast.
We have moved him around
here recently to try and
accommodate some of the
others. He fits in well
wherever we put him. He
was a little too frisky
for Opal the blind
horse, so we moved him
back with the Hunt Co.
horses.
Interaction with people:
Woody is friendly. We
just love him. Very
normal pony now.
History:
Donation in lieu of law
enforcement seizure.
Training / abilities:
Woody appears to be
gaited. An experienced
young person or light
weight adult can ride
him now. At first he
was a bit exuberant, but
now he is much more
relaxed. If he is
feeling "fresh" he gets
a few minutes work in
the roundpen. This is
one nice "little
horse"! Woody is now in
training with Paemela,
who is going to show
him. Pamela has good
equitation and is an
advanced intermediate
rider. She rode him
very well. Look at the
videos above. For just
a few minutes, Woody was
a little unsure of this
new person, but one
paddock cake later and
they were best friends.
Woody does best if he is
handled by one person at
a time. He feels
pressure when 2 people
are by him and trying to
do stuff. Hence, he
does not care for
injections. Lunged him
over a jump yesterday as
well, and he likes it.
