Opal
Breed:
Appaloosa Registered?: Sex:
Mare DOB:
1992/1993
Height:
Color: Grey
Markings:
Location:
Cleveland, TX
Adoption Fee:
$100
Temperament: Opal
is very quiet.
Physical problems /
health issues:
The vet said Opal is
legally blind. She has
no vision in her right
eye, and only slight
vision in her left. She
also has cataracts.
However, her hearing is
excellent! She also had
uveitis and the vet
believes this will occur
every now and then, but
can be treated with
antibiotic cream in the
eyes.
Interaction with horses:
We had to move her out
of the Hunt co. herd.
She was very low on the
pecking order. She is
now in a small pasture
with another quiet mare
and doing great.
Interaction with people:
She will follow me
anywhere. Once she
trusts a person she is
fine. Absolutely sweet
and lets you do anything
to her. I have put
antibiotic cream in her
eyes, and dressed a
wound on her leg with no
problems.
History: Hunt Co.
seizure.
Training / abilities:
She has been a
broodmare, but she may
have been broke to
ride. We have not tested
her yet, but we
will. Even with her
blindness, in the right
hands she could go on
riding for a long
time. She is not as old
as thought. I think
things got a bit mixed
up between her and
Barb.
