Temperament: Mustang Sally is a very pretty mare who came originally from the BLM. She has no training and has been handled very little.

Sally has come around quite a bit, given the extremely wet weather limiting the amount of time her foster mom has been able to spend with her.  She has put all of her weight back on and is now turned out with the rest of the horses and has learned to come back to her stall when called.  Her foster mom can now walk up to her and pet her when she is out and she has started leading a few steps before getting scared and pulling away.  She loves to have her back and neck scratched and will now even let her forehead be scratched without panicking.  She still has a long way to go to trust people but she is starting to come around.  Now that she has started to trust people some, once this wet weather passes we are going to start trying the tying and leading more.

Physical problems / health issues: Sally came in malnourished, but has recovered very well.

Interaction with horses: Sally has been put out with the goats and cows, as well as with other horses and she seems to get along well with anything she is put with.

Interaction with people: Sally is improving a great deal. She will let her foster mom handle her out in the pasture, and will even lead some before getting scared. She seems to be enjoying the attention she is getting.

History: Mustang Sally just came through the BLM in July 2006, then was bought at an auction by her next owner. She was surrendered to us during an investigation.  She has the typical BLM freeze brand on the left side of her neck and the number 3955 on her hip.  That brand indicates that her adoption was unrestricted meaning she was over 10 years old, so the adopter was free to sell her.  She came from a herd area that is in California and Nevada.
