Midnight
Breed:
Quarter Horse
Sex:
Gelding DOB:
1981
Height:
14.2 hh
Color: Black bay
Markings: Star,
white on LR Location:
Halletsville, TX
Adoption Fee:
$100
Temperament: Midnight is a
very docile older horse with excellent ground manners. Anyone can
handle him on the ground and he has been around youngsters in his
foster home. He's been great with them handling him.
Physical problems / health issues:
None known.
Interaction with horses:
He gets along fine with his donkey pasture mate and is probably
okay with other horses, but shouldn't go out with those that are
overly dominant at his age. It takes him a while to eat his feed,
so he's going to need separation for that.
Interaction with people:
History: He was
donated when his owner
could no longer maintain
him.
Training / abilities: Midnight still has
some get up and go for his age, he has a good handle on him and he's
responsive under saddle. He's well broke and sensitive to leg and
reining cues. In an open field, he could be too much for novice
riders. He needs more riding to learn to slow down some. He tacks
up like the gentleman he is. Midnight is
a senior horse, so light riding only. Any adopter will need to make
sure he doesn't overdo himself since he wants to go a lot of the
time. He's still gaining some weight. Light riding means riding
for a couple hours at a time, once or twice a week. Midnight is
very sound, just lack stamina and muscle tone, so any adopter will
need to build him back up with shorter rides for now.
Experience level
required to work with
this horse:
Novice on the ground, advanced beginner taking lessons in an
arena, intermediate rider in an open field or on trails until he's
used to be ridden again.

Special needs: Larger amounts
of senior feed twice a day, separation from others since it takes
him a while to eat.
Other comments: Midnight would be a great horse to learn on,
he's very forgiving on the ground and once he's refamiliarized with
relaxing under saddle, he should be good for anyone taking lessons.
He has a very cute face!
