Luciano’s
Bet came to HfH with an
uncertain history.
Passed from owner to
owner, we’re still not
really sure what this
guy has gone through.
According to his
previous owner, he was
always in a bad mood
towards her and unruly.
His new Sanctuary owner
has not found this to be
the case! He is a very
sweet boy who eats up
all the attention he
gets at his new home.
Luciano’s Bet is a
very tall, sleek,
beautiful Thoroughbred.
After x-rays and an
exam, the vet said "send
him back" he's got
severe rotation, the
down time will be long
and the expense of
special shoes and pads
and gel inserts large.
There are too many good
horses out there to keep
one like this. Well,
that went over like a
lead brick! Luciano is
lucky enough to have
found a home that
doesn’t mind the time
spent in healing, and
doesn’t expect him to be
anything other than a
horse.
Luciano is now
wearing pads and shoes
to keep him comfortable
and help his healing. He
is slowly recovering,
and in much less pain.
His new Sanctuary mom
has this to say about
her boy:
I am very hopeful now
that with these special
shoes and pads, and the
loving care of my
farrier in helping me to
try to correct the
rotation in his hooves,
that Gambler is now on
his way to recovery.
Time will tell, but as
his foster dad always
says: I have all the
time in the world, may
be a little short on the
good looks and money,
but we have nothing in
the world but time now.
Luciano's Bet a/k/a
Gambler (I'm taking a
"gamble" on this loving
creature and it feels
like my late horse Happy
has sent another soul in
need of my love and
care). Thanks to all at
HfH for bringing Gambler
into our lives.
