Temperament: At present time we are weaning her colt so she has experienced some anxiety.  However, the past several days, she has been calm and seems to be adjusting to the change much better.
Physical problems / health issues: None Known

Interaction with horses: She is currently not around other horses.  Prior to coming here, she was pastured with 2 other horses that she had no problems with.

Interaction with people: Laira is still a little weary.  I believe this is due to the weaning.  She is slow to allow you in her space but not aggressive or scared.  I believe in time and with constant attention, combined with the absence of her colt, she will adjust rather well.

History: None Known

Training / abilities: She appears to have had prior handling and could use some attention to remind her of her manners.  She will allow you to halter her, leads slowly because she does not want separation from the colt, very calm in stall, no bad vices thus far.  Has been ridden in the past as she will allow a saddle.  We have not attempted to ride her yet.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Unsure at the point as a proper evaluation has not been assessed.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? n/a  Reared? No Kicked?  No Bitten?  No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes Lead? Yes Tie?  Yes Trailer?  Yes Clip?  n/a Trim Feet?  Yes Bathe? Yes

Special needs: None Known

Other comments: When Laira arrived, she had some patches of hair missing and had worn a halter for a very long time that had left bald spots underneath.  She is recovering from those.  Overall, she is a little heavy and needs to have a carefully planned diet until she loses some of that extra weight.  We have had her on 16% protein for nursing mares and have recently cut that back to 12% and lowered her grazing to help with her weight issue.  She will be a beautiful mare.  Her color is dark, her confirmation is nice, and she has been an easy keeper.
