14.2hh
Color:

Markings:
Arrival
Date: 10/29/2007
Location:
Cleveland, TX Adoption Fee:
$350
Temperament: Khan
is lovely, well-trained
older gentleman. He
comes to his name when
he is out to pasture.
He does not like being
fussed with whilst
eating, but I have to
put his blanket on and
he will lay his ears
back, but has never
kicked or bitten. Not a
big deal. I keep him in
a round pen in the
covered arena at night
so he can get all his
soaked food eaten. One
day I put him in a stall
as we were using the
arena and he weaves.
Not a lot, just appears
he does this when he is
not where he wants to
be. For the most part
he is just an easy
fellow to look after.
Physical problems /
health issues:
Khan only has one eye,
but it doesn’t affect
him at all. His
previous owner bought
him that way more than
18 yrs ago, so he is
clearly accustomed to
it. He is a messy
eater, perhaps due to
his teeth. We had the
dentist 31 Jan. 08 Khan
is no longer able to eat
hay. I had suspected
this and it is
confirmed. His is now a
body score of 5. He
does well on Ultium +
Mare and Maintenance
plus twice a day he gets
soaked alfalfa cubes
with beet pulp. He
gained weight quickly.
Interaction with horses:
He is turned out with
the "herd" during the
day, and knows how to
look after himself. He
is a little grumpy
whilst he is eating
would prefer not to be
bothered until he is
done. He goes out during
the day with the others
after breakfast and is
finally getting close to
them. I think he has
been in a pasture on his
own for sometime and is
a little cautious.
Interaction with people:
History: His
previous owner had him
for 18 yrs. She donated
him to HFH as she could
no longer take care of
him.
Training / abilities:
Absolutely broke. Khan
has not been ridden in a
couple of years, but the
owner did 50 mile
endurance racing with
him and he won once! He
gets very excited when
we drive into the arena
with horse and trailer!
A little pushy with
ground manners when
excited, but calms down
pretty fast. All in all,
he is a fabulous ride
and very smooth. He
would be a good first
horse for a youngster or
beginner adult.
