Journey
Breed: Quarter
Horse
Sex: Gelding
DOB: 1982
Height:
~15.0 hh
Color: Sorrel
Markings:
Location:
Leander, TX Adoption Fee:
$250
Temperament:
Journey is super sweet
and very well
trained. He has very
large legs! We were
told by the Sheriff that
this horse used to be a
working cow horse. When
he gains about 300
pounds he will be
massive!
Physical problems / health issues:
He is malnourished. He
appears sound, and trots
in the pasture. His
teeth are bad from his
jaw being locked shut
with the halter, but he
can eat fine now. He's
on the senior feeding
program; he's up to 1
pound of grain every
four hours around the
clock, with about a
pound of alfalfa at the
same time. He gets
probiotics in it and
aloe vera juice (we find
that keeps them from
getting diarrhea at all
when they start on even
a small amount of
grain). He's also even
able to eat some coastal
now! He also loves
Cheerios as a treat.
Interaction with horses:
Journey loves other
horses.
Interaction with people:
He is extremely
sociable, very
friendly. Tons of
personality!
History: Donation
in lieu of seizure. His
halter had grown into
his head, and he
couldn't open his mouth
to eat. His owner never
noticed.
Training / abilities:
Reported to have been a
working cow horse. Once
he is healthy we will
assess him further.
