Markings:

Adoption Fee:

Temperament:
Very sweet easy going
horse.
Physical problems / health issues:
Esophagus has old damage
with scar tissue which
causes him to choke
easily due to the
narrowing of the
esophagus before it
reaches his stomach.
Interaction with horses:
Essay seems to get along
with a mixed herd
however he has been
alone for about a month
since I had to find a
grassy pasture for him.
Interaction with people:
He is very nice to
people but not a
lovey-dovey horse. He is
just enjoying being able
to eat, he comes running
at feeding time!
History: Donated
in lieu of seizure after
owner could not properly
care for him. He came in
very malnourished and
after several trips to
the vet for choking, it
was found that he
suffers from scar tissue
which prevented him from
eating like a normal
horse. He has had a
rough life and deserves
that someone special to
care for him.
Training / abilities:
Is broke to ride.
Experience level
required to work with
this horse:
Beginner
Has this horse ever:
Bucked? No Reared? No
Kicked?

Ground handling:

Yes
Clip? Unknown
Trim Feet? Yes
Bathe? Yes
Special needs:
Soaked Senior Complete
Feed ONLY.....with soft
green grass (this
includes winter pasture
as he CAN NOT eat hay or
alfalfa (even if it is
soaked in water). He
does get a supplement
syrup tub also.
Other comments:
Essay needs a very
special loving home who
can take 15 to 20
minutes a day at feeding
times to soak his feed
and make sure that all
has dissolved before
giving to him. He can
only eat soft green
grass including winter
pasture during winter
time. ABSOLUTELY NO HAY
OR ALFALFA HAY/CUBES as
it is coarse and will
cause blockage in his
esophagus. He suffered
from 3 chokes within a
week when he first
arrived and can not go
through what it takes to
get the blockage out. It
has taken us a while to
find the right
combination to his feed
and he MUST stay on that
combination. He went so
long unable to eat like
a regular horse that now
he loves his soggy feed
and green grass. SO
PLEASE....ANYONE WHO HAS
NICE GREEN WINTER GRASS
FOR THIS SPECIAL BOY TO
EAT PLEASE CONSIDER HIM
EVEN IF HE IS A LONE
HORSE IN A PASTURE OF
COWS. He has truly been
my diamond in the
rough!
