Calista
Breed: Paso Fino/QH cross Sex: Mare
YOB: 1999 Height: 14.3 hh
Color: Sorrel
Markings: Small half
moon on forehead
Arrival date: Sept. 2005
Location: Hitchcock, TX
Adoption Fee:
$500
Temperament:
Calista is the typical
drama queen. She is
approachable on her
terms. She wants
attention but when she
has had enough she will
let you know. She can
be sweet on minute and
wants nothing to do with
you the next. She has
lots of spirit.
Physical problems /
health issues:
None
Interaction with horses:
She is good with the
other horses but tends
to be one of the
dominate mares.
Interaction with people:
Calista runs hot and
cold with people. She
is all wanting attention
one minute then is very
touch-me-not the next.
She needs to learn that
the people decide when
she is going to be with
them, rather than her
walking away when she is
ready to leave.
History:
She came to us from a
local seizure with four
other horses.
Training / abilities:
She has been ridden.
She is a little bucky,
but she isn’t serious
enough about it to
dismount the rider. She
doesn’t like leg cues.
Experience level
required to work with
this horse:
She will need someone
with experience until
she has worked enough to
know that she is not in
charge.
Has this horse ever:
Bucked?
Yes
Reared? No Kicked?
No Bitten? No
Other?
Ground handling:
Catch? Yes Lead? Yes
Tie? Yes Trailer? Yes
Clip? Yes Trim Feet?
Yes Bathe?
Special needs:
None
Other comments:
Calista is a beautiful,
strong, healthy rideable
horse, all she needs is
practice. If she were
worked more often she
would settle down and be
a great riding horse.
