Temperament: Sandy has a good temperament, she likes people and other horses.

Physical problems / health issues: Sandy came to us because she had a clubbed left foot.  She underwent surgery in April and is recovering well.  She still has a limp, but is coming along nicely in her recovery.  In December of 2006, her surgery leg was swelling occasionally.   It is thought that the strain on the other tendons and ligaments during recovery could be causing this.  We do not know yet if Sandy will be able to bear the weight of a rider.  She needs some time now to grow up, heal up and get stronger.  The vet recommends that she not be tested until she is about 3-1/2 years old.  Time will tell. She has no other health issues.

Interaction with horses: She likes other horses.  She is in the herd with two other mares (an Arabian and a Quarter horse), three miniature mares, one miniature gelding, two jenny donkeys and ducks, geese and two dogs. Sandy is very gentle around the ducks…especially when they stand underneath her to eat what food she drops.  Pretty cute!

Interaction with people: She likes people.

History: Donated due to clubbed foot issue.

Training / abilities: No previous use, just a youngster.  She has general ground manners, but has not been started yet.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Intermediate.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No. Reared? Yes, but not at a person. Kicked? No. Bitten? No. Other? No.

Ground handling: Catch? Yes. Lead? Yes. Tie? Yes. Trailer? Yes. Clip? Unknown. Trim Feet? Yes. Bathe? Yes.

Special needs:

Other comments:  Long lines, tall and lean TB filly.  Still in recovery from tendon surgery, but prognosis for light riding is optimistic.  With her lovely disposition and looks, this good-looking girl is waiting for her chance to make someone a great companion.  Check her web page for updates!
